April 16, 2019 GOVERNOR POLIS SIGNS SB19-181 INTO LAW

On April 16, 2019, Governor Polis signed SB19-181 into law and the legislation is now immediately effective. Prior to the signing, Director Robbins presented several important updates regarding the Commission’s implementation of SB19-181. First, the April 29-30, 2019 COGCC Hearing has been rescheduled to May 20-21, 2019 under the new 9-member Commission. The new volunteer Commission will handle the first four rulemakings required by SB19-181. The new 5-member professional Commission will be put into place the earlier of the completion of the four initial COGCC Rulemakings or July 1, 2020.

The initial COGCC Rulemakings will focus on proposed rules to address: (1) public health, safety and welfare, (2) alternative site analysis, (3) evaluation of cumulative impacts, and (4) revised flowline rules, in addition to creating a new relationship between the Commission, industry, and local governments
