April 8, 2020 COGCC ANNOUNCES SPECIAL HEARING ON APRIL 13, 2020 TO HEAR PENALTY ASSESSMENT ON FIRESTONE TRAGEDY

On April 8, 2020, the COGCC announced a Special Commission Hearing to be held remotely on April 13, 2020 commencing at 1:00pm to hear the alleged violations of Kerr-McGee (a subsidiary of Occidental Petroleum) regarding the Firestone tragedy and Staff’s Administrative Order by Consent (AOC) for its penalty assessment. The COGCC states that this hearing is the next step in the COGCC’s enforcement process in seeking an $18.25 million penalty against Kerr-McGee. The Special Hearing will also include a brief report from the Director on the status of the Mission Change Rulemaking Hearing and a Consent Agenda.
