September 1, 2021 COGCC APPROVES FIRST OIL AND GAS DEVELOPMENT PLAN IN COLORADO FILED BY JOST ENERGY LAW

On September 1, 2021, the Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission unanimously approved the first Oil and Gas Development Plan (OGDP) in Colorado which was prepared and filed by Jost Energy Law, P.C. on behalf of Alpha Oil & Gas LLC (Alpha). Alpha’s OGDP is the first under the new regulations approved under Senate Bill 19-181’s Mission Change Rules effective on January 15, 2021. As acknowledged by the Commissioners, approval of Alpha’s OGDP recognizes the full protection of public health, safety, welfare, the environment and wildlife resources in development of oil and gas resources in Colorado. In accordance with the new regulatory process, approval of an OGDP constitutes approval of the Form 2A Oil and Gas Location, associated Plans and Best Management Practices, in addition to the evaluation of cumulative impacts associated with the development.
