January 29, 2020 COGCC RELEASES NEW NOTICE TO OPERATORS REGARDING HEALTH STUDY NOTIFICATION
On January 29, 2020, the Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission released a new Notice to Operators addressing how operators may provide information to residents that are within 2,000’ of proposed oil and gas operations. Pursuant to the new Guidance, if the operator declines to send the health information notices, the COGCC may, on its own accord, take action to provide the Notice. The Guidance provides detailed information about how to measure 2,000’ (from the nearest edge of disturbed area to nearest wall of any home), the content of the Notice, and a required email to the Director following delivery of the Notices.
