November 23, 2020 COGCC UNANIMOUSLY ADOPTS MISSION CHANGE RULES
On November 23, 2020, the COGCC formally voted and unanimously approved the 200, 300, 400, 500, 600, 800, 900 and 1200-Series Mission Change Rules after three months of rulemaking hearings. The rulemakings were required to implement the statutory change to the COGCC’s mission from “fostering” to “regulating” oil and gas development in a manner that protects public health, safety, welfare, the environment and wildlife resources. The Rules will become effective on Friday January 15, 2021. Operators have 6 months from the effective date of the Mission Change Rules to submit new Form 2As and Form 2s for in process, on hold or delayed permit applications.
