August 10, 2020 COLORADO WATER QUALITY CONTROL COMMISSION ADOPTS REVISIONS TO REGULATION NO. 84
On Monday, August 10, 2020, the Colorado Water Quality Control Commission (WQCC) adopted revisions to Regulation 84 to allow Oil and Gas Operations to use category 2 and 3 reclaimed water. The City of Aurora requested the revisions in order to help close a growing water supply gap in Colorado, provide additional sustainable water options for water users, and encourage the beneficial use of reclaimed domestic wastewater in Colorado. After a year of stakeholder meetings and technical discussions with the Water Quality Control Division, the oil and gas industry and other local governments, the City of Aurora gained full stakeholder consensus on the final language proposed to the Commission which was unanimously adopted by the WQCC. Jost Energy Law is grateful to have been involved in the stakeholder process and resulting consensus Rules. You can find the proposed and adopted Rules here:
