May 20, 2020 JEL SENIOR COUNSEL JILL DORANCY APPOINTED AS A SECOND JUDICIAL DISTRICT COURT JUDGE
Jost Energy Law is delighted to announce that Jill Dorancy, Senior Counsel with Jost Energy Law, has been appointed as a Second Judicial District Court Judge by Governor Jared Polis. Governor Polis announced her appointment on Friday, May 15, 2020, effective July 1, 2020. Jost Energy Law is immensely proud that Ms. Dorancy has been appointed to this honorable position.
Ms. Dorancy served as Hearings Officer for the Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission from 2012 to 2017 before moving into private practice as Senior Counsel at Jost Energy Law P.C. There she worked on cases involving appellate work, energy and contract related litigation, and oil and gas regulatory matters.
Before becoming a Hearings Officer, Ms. Dorancy was a partner with Cooper & Dorancy, LLC for 12 years and an associate attorney for Ireland Stapleton Pryor & Pascoe, P.C., Ritsema and Lyon, P.C. in Denver, Colorado, and Goldstein & Associates, PC in Washington D.C. Ms. Dorancy also clerked for the Honorable Justice Gregory K. Scott of the Colorado Supreme Court. She earned her B.A. from Binghamton University – State University of New York and her J.D. from the University of New Mexico School of Law.
After receiving confirmation of Ms. Dorancy’s appointment, Jamie Jost and Kelsey Wasylenky, owners of Jost Energy Law, expressed their excitement by stating: “We are honored to have had Jill as an integral member of our all-female firm, and applaud Governor Polis on his recognition of the ability and strength that she brings to the State’s judiciary. Ms. Dorancy starts in her new position on July 1, 2020, filling the seat of retiring judge Elizabeth Starrs.
