Following the release of Governor Gordon’s Executive Order 2020-2, “Declaration of a State of Emergency and a Public Health Emergency”, regarding the COVID-19 outbreak, Chief Justice Michael K Davis issued an Emergency Order to implement measures to protect the health of the public and court personnel throughout Wyoming. The Order suspended in-person proceedings, except in certain specified circumstances. Judges throughout Wyoming have been encouraged to use video or telephone to the extent possible. Additionally, Chief Justice Davis stated all civil and, to the extent not to violate a defendant’s Constitutional right of a speedy trial, criminal cases should be rescheduled.
